TMT (Stress Test)

An exercise stress test or Treadmill Test (TMT), also simply called a stress test, helps gather information about how a patient’s heart works throughout a physical activity. Since exercise makes the heart pump faster than usual, a stress test can reveal problems within ones heart that otherwise might not be visible. The test usually involves making the patient walk on a treadmill or ride a stationary bike while their heart rhythm, breathing and blood pressure are simultaneously monitored.

Our doctors conduct TMT checkups to detect heart problems like a coronary artery disease or an irregular heart rhythm in you. They may also use the test to guide an already ongoing treatment for a heart condition.

Why is It Done?

You might be recommended to take a TMT test in Jaipur Heart and Multispeciality Centre by our doctors in one of the following cases:

  • To diagnose problems in heart rhythm or arrhythmias – Heart arrhythmias is a condition that occurs when the electrical impulses responsible for coordinating your heart rhythm do not function properly, causing irregular heartbeat.
  • To diagnose coronary artery disease – Coronary artery disease occurs when the arteries become damaged and are unable to supply proper blood, oxygen and nutrients in the heart. This is usually a result of buildups of cholesterol deposits and plaques.
  • If you’ve been diagnosed with a heart condition, a TMT checkup in Rajasthan can be helpful in finding out the effects of the ongoing treatment or establish a treatment plan by analyzing how much exercise your heart can handle.
